We recently caught up with Hannah at Maple Rose Weddings, about a couple of exciting upcoming projects and thought we would share our collective thoughts on the importance of lighting at your wedding.
Lighting is key when it comes to transforming your wedding venue and setting the tone for your special day. It has the ability to create atmosphere, warmth, romance, intimacy and drama, elevating and enhancing the treasured memories of your special day.
A considered lighting design will convey theming through colour and pattern, as well as draw focus to features within your ceremony, dining and party spaces.
This is done by enhancing architecture, floral detailing and table styling in addition to larger design elements, such as set work and staging. We often wash the grounds of your wedding venue with dynamic pops of colour, or monogram of the couples initials to further personalise the space.
As couples spend so much time planning, selecting and curating these details, it’s important to highlight them – literally.
In a practical sense, lighting also ensures clarity of any directional, or order of the day signage, leads the way between ceremony and dining rooms, illuminates your speakers and entertainers, as well as gives subtle cues to encourage dancing and elevate mood!
Even during the summer months, lighting still creates impact, adding embellishment to venues that don’t have much ‘natural light’, as well as ensuring your venue looks and feels different for your evening reception and party, adding another dimension to your guests’ experience.
